If you have diabetes, here's what you should know about your risk for heart disease*

The American Diabetes Association recommends testing
for heart disease in patients who have diabetes and

  • Are inactive adults 35 years of age and older and are planning to begin an exercise program
  • Have a history of blood vessel disease in limbs or neck
  • Have 2 or more of the following:
    • Undesirable cholesterol levels:
      • Low HDL or “good” cholesterol
        (40 mg/dL or lower)8
      • High LDL or “bad” cholesterol
        (100 mg/dL or higher)
      • High total cholesterol
        (200 mg/dL or higher)
    • Smoking
    • Family history of premature coronary artery disease
    • High blood pressure (130/80 mmHg or higher)19
    • Abnormal protein in urine

*The indications for Cardiolite® are not specific to patients with diabetes. Cardiolite® was shown to be an effective prognostic tool in the evaluation of patients with known or suspected CAD. This was determined in 3 pivotal trials enrolling 1596 patients, including 311 patients with diabetes, which were used as the basis for approval.
